For Pete’s Sake Pottery!

Recently I had the privilege of stumbling across this extra special pottery shop. After seeing some of the artwork I had to know more. I had emailed Susan about some products and she was the kindest soul. Everything about her and her shop are so pleasant and lovely. Louisville’s own, Susan Brown, is known for her Derby-themed pottery and hand-painted tableware, décor and gifts. Susan, owner and creator of For Pete’s Sake Pottery, hand paints this precious pottery in the most beautiful Southern charm patterns with a modern twist. The colors are so pretty and every piece is very unique. You can tell Susan takes pride in her work and the gifts she has been given.

Susan Brown started For Pete's Sake Pottery when her one and only child Pete was born. For a long while before that, she worked long hours managing a retail shop. When Pete was 10 months old the babysitter quit and she decided she would stay home.

Once she was home with Pete, she started to paint again for fun and to give gifts to her friends. Soon after, she started selling her pottery to earn a little extra money. And before long, she had a full-fledged business. Her son was an inspiration to her and awoke her confidence in her artistic talent.

The business has now turned into a family business, with her husband helping, Pete Jr. playing an active role, and her niece Sophie joining full time.

From custom plates, to tabletop items, and plenty of Holiday dishes and décor, there is no shortage of variety on these handmade pieces of art. One of my most used pieces is the Blue Floral Chinoiserie Mug. There is something very enjoyable about choosing my coffee mug in the morning. This cup is so beautiful it almost makes the coffee taste better. ;)

As featured on Reese Witherspoon’s Instagram, the hand painted, “Woof Y’all” mug is adorable and available on the website. Her dog Lou’s portrait was hand painted on the other side of the mug! This option is available on Susan’s website.Photo credit…

The Blue and White Chinoiserie Salt and Pepper Set is absolutely charming. A timeless pattern that is an eye catcher on the dinner table.
